Location: Gansbaai, South Africa
Dive site: Joubertsdam
Water temp: Moderate
Visibility: Poor
Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Short-tail Stingrays, Cape fur seal, Storm Petrels + African Penguins
Summary: This morning we had an early start to the day as strong south-easterly winds began to pick up. We launched in light winds and enjoyed a short drive to our dive site in The Shallows. Our guests eagerly suited up in their wetsuits, and the excitement was unmistakable! Not long after, our first bronze whaler sharks appeared, giving our divers the chance to enjoy multiple close encounters while in the cage. We were also treated to sightings of two impressive short-tailed stingrays and a Cape fur seal that stayed close to the boat. In the chum slick, over 40 storm petrels danced across the water’s surface, creating an incredible spectacle. On the way back, we were lucky enough to encounter a raft of highly endangered African penguins as well. Thank you to everyone who joined us today!
