This year, we're excited to host Mike Dormer as our guest speaker, presenting a fascinating talk on The Geology of the Pearly Beach Area.
Saturday, 7 December 2024, was the perfect day for a market. There was plenty of sunshine, very little wind, and lots of positive energy. Many eager shoppers gathered at the Village Green as early as 7:45 am and waited patiently until the market opened at around 9 am. There were a number of familiar faces from previous second-hand markets. The Conservancy would like to thank everyone who donated used goods for this annual event. Linen, bedding, and other household items were particularly popular. The indigenous plants and Milkwood saplings also received quite a bit of attention.
The plants were supplied on consignment by the Green Futures nursery of the Grootbos Foundation, and the Milkwood saplings were donated by a Pearly Beach resident. The plants on sale were chosen for their suitability to survive and thrive in our unique coastal environment.
The Pearly Beach Conservancy is a non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting and restoring the natural habitat. Please join us on 10 April at 9h00 to clean up litter, garden refuse and rubble from Open Spaces on Spin Street and Perlemoendraai.
Despite a drizzly beginning, the market held on the Herbarium stoep and the Village Green on 10 December 2022 turned out to be a success!
