Last Hike of 2024
Our final hike for 2024 took us from Storm Street in De Kelders to the Harbour in Gansbaai.
Spring is here and the grass is green! Please note, our next hike is set for Saturday, 14 September 2024. We'll be taking a circular route in the mountains above Gansbaai, starting at Panorama Wedding Venue.
Here are the details:
• Route Length: About 9.0 km
• Difficulty: Medium (5/10)
• Fitness Level: Medium (5/10)
The first 800 meters have a steep, rocky jeep track with some water-eroded dongas. The route has dried out nicely, but watch out for the occasional puddle. You'll be treated to beautiful views and lookout points above Franskraal and Gansbaai. The mountain fynbos is in full bloom, with sage and Erica species in sight.
What to Bring:
• Sunblock
• Good walking shoes
• Walking sticks
• Snacks and drinks for the break at Brandewyn Vlei
We’ll meet at 07h30 just inside the entrance of Panorama, under the trees. Look for Henry Geldenhuys and Mike Dormer. FIND THE MAP HERE.
A big thank you to Henry for organising this fantastic hike. Let's enjoy the trail and see what birds we can spot and name!
