Jianni, a Gansbaai local, began selling pet food from the boot of her car in 2012. After years of working towards her dream, she opened The Pet Grocer in December 2019, fulfilling her goal of owning a pet store.
At The Pet Grocer, you'll find everything you need for your pets' general health, including over-the-counter remedies and medications for skin problems, dehydration, parasites, and tooth decay. They also have products for minor scrapes and bruises, ensuring your pets stay happy and healthy.
Striving for customer satisfaction, Jianni will source any product not in-store, on request.

You can easily pay via the EFT along with your products, or settle with the driver using their card machine.
Simply place your order, complete the EFT, and send your proof of payment. It’s that simple!
The Pet Grocer needs your help to feed and care for Gansbaai’s needy dogs and cats.
The dogs and cats at BARC (Birkenhead Animal Rescue Centre) urgently need food and supplies. Your donations can make a big difference.
How You Can Help
Food Donations: Any pet food donations you contribute will go directly to feeding the animals at BARC.
Donation Bin: The Pet Grocer’s donation bin is available for you to drop off items like dog blankets, beds, pillows, tinned food, and bags of pet food.
Cash Donations: If you’d prefer to donate cash, you can speak to Jianni at the shop or call her about bank details for either The Pet Grocer or BARC.
Remember, every little bit counts, so even a small R5 contribution can make a real difference. Your support helps ensure these animals get the care and attention they need.

The Pet Grocer Festive Season Hours
• Closed on Christmas Day
• 26th December 2024: Open 09:00 - 13:00 (possibly until 14:00, depending on how busy we are)
• 1st January 2025: Open 09:00 - 13:00
Otherwise, we’re open during our normal hours.

A small note:
We’re busier than usual, and I’m taking some time to focus on my kids, so phone assistance might be tricky. Customers in-store will always be prioritized. This is not meant to offend - we simply want to give our full attention to everyone.
Factories are closed from the 15th of December to the 6th of January, so we’re working hard to stock up and organize everything. If we miss a call or forget to reply to a WhatsApp, please forgive us.
