Julia Barlow and Riaan Mostert Complete Rhodes Half Marathon

A big congratulations to Julia Barlow and Riaan Mostert, who took part in the Rhodes Half Marathon on 1 May 2026 in Wellington.

For Riaan, it was a particularly special milestone as this was his very first 21km race, and he tackled it like a champ. With 15 years of endurance walking in the SAPS behind him, it is clear he has built a solid base, and now his running journey is gaining serious momentum.

Julia, his partner and coach, is no stranger to the Wellington route. With an impressive 24 races there, hundreds elsewhere, and two Comrades Marathons completed, she’s a legend in local running circles.

Now it is eyes and feet forward to the couple’s next challenges. The Gun Run in Cape Town on 13 September and the Foot of Africa in Bredasdorp on 19 September. Two big races, two big goals, and plenty of training miles ahead.

Well done, Julia and Riaan! Gansbaai is proud of you and cheering you on all the way.
