Self-Acceptance: The Key to Emotional Freedom
Being comfortable with myself sets me free.
Anger is a very human response.
To deny or suppress it locks it into eventual rage.
Anger is not necessarily the problem.
Sometimes, anger is an indicator.
It can show us where we feel limited, dismissed, disrespected, powerless, or diminished in our value. Sometimes that experience comes through the actions of other people. And sometimes, the belief comes from within us - the quiet belief that says, “I am not good enough.” “I don't matter.” “I have no choice.” “I have to tolerate this.”
When anger arises, we often react to the emotion rather than listen to what it is trying to tell us.
And when that reaction becomes our habitual response, something begins to change.
We become accustomed to reacting.
Eventually, we may start believing that this is simply who we are - that we are an angry person, that we have always been this way, and that we cannot change it.
But a repeated response does not have to become a permanent identity.
When anger is continually suppressed, ignored or expressed through increasingly intense reactions, it can build. What began as a signal can eventually become a pattern, and that pattern can begin to affect our relationships, our bodies, our communication and the way we experience ourselves.
So what if, instead of immediately reacting to anger, you learned to listen to it?
The moment you notice that first feeling of anger, pause.
Ask yourself:
What happened here?
What am I feeling beneath the anger?
What is my inner voice telling me?
What does this anger want me to understand?
What belief is being activated right now?
Keep listening.
Because underneath the anger, there may be a belief that is asking to be seen.
Perhaps it is a belief about your worth.
Perhaps it is a belief about control.
Perhaps it is a belief about what you deserve.
Perhaps it is a belief that you have carried for so long that you no longer recognise it as a belief.
Anger is an indicator. It is not a life sentence.
You may not be able to control what happens around you.
But you can begin to become conscious of what happens within you - and that is where change begins.
It is the actions that follow that count.
Master your Beliefs.
Master your Future.
