Anger Is Not Your Identity

Anger Is Not Your Identity

You were never supposed to become the anger.

There was a time when your anger may have served a purpose.

It may have protected you when you felt vulnerable, unheard, powerless, dismissed or unable to express what was really happening inside you.

Anger can become a form of protection.

But what protects us in one chapter of our lives can become destructive in another.

And sometimes, without realising it, we stop having anger and start becoming the anger.

It becomes how we communicate.

How we respond.

How we protect ourselves.

How we relate to the people around us.

And eventually, how we see ourselves.

You may have tried to control it.

You may have told yourself:

“This is just who I am.”

“I can't help it.”

“People make me angry.”

But what if there is another possibility?

What if your anger is carrying information about a belief you have been holding for years?

What if underneath the anger is fear?

A feeling of not being good enough?

A belief that you have to protect yourself?

A belief that you have to do everything yourself?

A belief that nobody can be trusted?

A belief that you have to fight to be heard?

These beliefs can become so familiar that we stop questioning them.

And when we stop questioning them, they can begin to shape our identity.

But your identity is not your anger.

You are the person underneath the protection.

The person who wants peace.

The person who wants meaningful relationships.

The person who wants to feel confident, capable and free.

The person who wants to respond consciously rather than react automatically.

Transformation begins when you become willing to look beneath the reaction and ask:

“What is this anger trying to show me?”

You don't have to spend the rest of your life managing the same reaction.

You can understand where it comes from.

You can challenge the beliefs feeding it.

You can change the story you have been carrying about yourself.

And you can learn a different way of responding.

Why continue coping when you can change what is creating the pattern?

Your anger may have started as protection.

But it doesn't have to become your identity.

Eliminate your self-sabotage.

Master your Beliefs.

Master your Future.

If you are ready to understand what is underneath your anger and begin creating a different way forward, let's talk.
