Fast Tip: Prevent Paint Stains on Carpet

The best way to 'remove' stains from a carpet is to not let them happen in the first place. Always use a drop cloth when painting. If it does happen - carpet spills needn't leave a stain. Scoop up the paint with a putty knife. Don't wipe up - you'll force paint deeper into the carpet. For water-based paints - blot with a wet rag. Blot with turps or paint thinner for an oil-based paint. Continue blotting with clean water/turps till the paint is gone. A standard carpet cleaner will help. Dry with a fan.
