After a full day of exploring the nearby attractions or just taking advantage of the sunshine and enjoying time at the beach, one tends to work up a good appetite. Luckily, the friendly folks of Arniston/Waenhuiskrans know just the remedy – a good hearty meal. To help you choose which eatery to choose we have put together a list of our 4 favourite eateries in Arniston:
1. Wanda’s Waenhuis Restaurant
Reopened in January of 2013, this welcoming little eatery is located in Kassiesbaai. The small restaurant is owned by Wanda Europa who aims to stay true to the menu and recipes o0f the original owners, Bob and Nellie Harman. Serving up hearty traditional meals and exceptional seafood in a welcoming atmosphere, Wanda’s is not to be missed.
2. Arniston Spa Hotel
Situated on the cliffs of the Indian Ocean, the Arniston Spa Hotel is a true treat to anyone who visits. The stylish restaurant serves up a full menu inspired by the ocean and paired with award-winning wines from the area. The menu includes a wide range of classic favourites with international influences and of course, freshly caught and prepared seafood. The delicious dishes can be enjoyed in the hotel dining room or on the veranda with panoramic views of the ocean.
3. Die Herberg
Located on the way to Arniston/Waenhuiskrans, Die Herberg and Conference Centre boasts a popular restaurant that serves up the finest traditional and international dishes. Surrounded by fields of Fynbos and views over the rolling golden dunes of Arniston, the à la carte restaurant serves up a selection of dishes from seafood to vegetarian options in a relaxed atmosphere. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner the restaurant is open 7 days a week and welcomes day visitors.
4. Willeen’s Kitchen Restaurant
Also located in the historical village of Kassiesbaai and overlooking the beach we find the warm and welcoming Willeen’s Kitchen Restaurant. Reopened in 2013 after its demolition, owner Willeen de Villiers keeps the menu and recipes of the original owners alive by serving up delicious home-cooked meals and decadent desserts to compliment them. Quickly becoming a popular spot to grab a quick bite to eat or enjoy a traditional dinner, Willeen is happy to host and entertain.
Arniston might be slightly off-the-beaten-track, but the delicious meals and desserts definitely won’t disappoint. The welcoming hosts and cosy venues will make you feel right at home while serving up a variety of freshly made to perfection meals.
