Stretching from the dramatic peaks of the Kogelberg to the windswept shores of Walker Bay Nature Reserve.
Welcome to the race that is perfect for everyone – from the roadrunner that wants to find out what trail running is all about to the experienced running trying to better their time. This exciting trail run takes place through the beautiful forests of Grabouw and offers a great run for trail runners and nature lovers alike.
Race #1 of the Green Forest Trail Run Series takes place on Saturday, 6 August 2016 and consists of a 5km, 10km and 21 km run for the brave. Number collection and registration can be done at Hickory Shack and your entry fee includes bus transfers, permits and a donation to the Grabouw Animal Welfare.
Be sure to enter early as entries will not be available on the day. The different trail details below:
21 km Trail Run
Number Collection/ Registration: 6:45 – 7:45
Bus transfer time: 7:00 – 8:00
Start Time: 8:30
Start Venue: Top of Lebanon Forest
Water Tables: 4
Cut Off Time: 11:30
Cost: R210
A short warm up loop will take you through the pine forests of Lebanon Forest and cross into the upper section of the Lebanon Trails with views over the Elgin Valley. The trail follows the contour of the valley around the Forest towards Lebanon Dam, takes a detour along the river line through the orchards and forests and comes to an end at the Hickory Shack.
10km Trail Run
Number Collection/ Registration: 7:30 – 8:30
Bus transfer time: 7:45 – 8:30
Start Time: 9:00
Start Venue: Top of Lebanon Forest
Water Tables: 2
Cut Off Time: 11:00
Cost: R160
A short warm up loop takes you through the top of the Lebanon Forest and crosses into the upper section of the Lebanon Trails with stunning views over the Elgin Valley. The trail then drops down through the orchards and forests along the river line and ends off at the Hickory Shack.
5km Trail Run
Number Collection/ Registration: 8:00 – 8:45
Start Time: 9:00
Start Venue: Hickory Shack
Water Tables: 1
Cut Off Time: 10:30
Cost: R80
This trail is the Fun Run for those who are looking to do their part as well enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Elgin Valley. The trail takes you around the Lebanon Dam and offers great views with very little uphill. Those taking part in the Fun Run should be done in time to cheer on the folks doing the 10km and 21km. Parents are welcome to bring their children to ride their bikes along with you. Please note that there will be no timing on this route, but the top male and female will receive prizes.
All participants are invited to meet up after the race for food and drinks as well as the prize giving at the Hickory Shack.
