Overstrand Municipality urges residents to be aware of scammers in the Gansbaai and Hermanus areas pretending to be Municipal officials and threatening guest houses to make a payment to them into an e-wallet account otherwise their electricity will be cut off within an hour.
This is a scam and the Municipality urges residents to alert the Municipality, including the police, about any suspicious activities related to municipal services. The financial department can be contacted on 028 384 8300, 028 313 8000 / 5060 or 028 313 8980 (law enforcement).
We remind resident that Municipal officials will not ask for money to remain connected to the electricity grid. Municipal account payments are to be made directly to the Overstrand Municipality via the online options or at our respective rates halls.
