Filler: Mole Snake
A punchy picture of an impressive mole snake being expertly handled by one of the Grootbos Field Rangers, Yolanda.
On Saturday 21 September the early morning start of the Voet of Afrika 21km and 42km race was cold but seeing all the participants / friends, the weather was soon forgotten. A better weather day for a race we did not have to wish for as the day was perfect.
Whalers Athletic Club runners participated in the 21km and the 42km and The Voet of Afrika race saw our runners excel, claiming several top spots in their respective categories - a resounding success (Comment from Whalers Facebook page).
This race is one of my favourite races and this year I ran my 22nd 21km Voet of Afrika race. I had an amazing 21km race. Took the hills with ease and had a good strong finish in a good time of 2:17:26.
The event was well organized and it was great chatting with all my fellow runners / friends from my club and various clubs before and after the race. Thank you to the organizers, Security Company, SAPS, Law Enforcement, Fire & Rescue, Ambulance Services and all the families that supported their loved ones. The water tables were excellent and we appreciate every volunteer who ensured that the runners were well hydrated along the route.
A special thanks to Riaan Mostert and K9 Bella for supporting me all the way, it makes running the race so much easier and special.
