RECOGNISING OUR HEROES: INTERNATIONAL FIREFIG...
Today, on International Firefighters Day, 4 May, we honour the men and women who put their lives on the line every day.

Although organised firefighting dates back over two millennia, International Firefighters’ Day was first marked on 4 May 1999 - a day dedicated to honouring the brave men and women who protect our lives, property, communities, and natural environment.
It’s also a time to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
The Overberg District Municipality invites you to join in this meaningful celebration on Saturday, 9 May 2026.
- A day of honour, action, and community spirit
- Family-friendly activities and thrilling showcases
- A chance to meet and support our local heroes
Please see the poster for full event details, and come be part of a day that celebrates courage, service, and unity.
Strength. Brotherhood. Service.
