Fiscal Flycatcher Babies Thrive
Our parting shot this week is of the fiscal flycatcher babies that were born a week ago in a nest just outside our office.

We're thrilled to share our involvement in South Africa’s floral exhibition at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024. Inspired by the Cape Floristic Region, this exhibition will showcase the incredible biodiversity of our unique Cape region.
This project wouldn't have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors and dedicated individuals who believe in sharing our extraordinary flora with the world. Special thanks to Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, the Rupert Nature Foundation, and Cape Flora SA for their generous support. Not to forget, the initiative was spearheaded by renowned South African horticulturist, Keith Kirsten, and past BotSoc Chair, Marinda Nel. We're grateful for the endorsement from the Western Cape Department of Agriculture and the Kirstenbosch branch of SANBI.
Leading the team once again is designer Leon Kluge, who has previously guided South Africa to Gold at the Chelsea Flower Show. Representing the ongoing conservation efforts of the Grootbos Foundation is our resident artist and Florilegium collection manager, Chris Lochner. And let's not forget Bulelani Bashe from the Green Futures Nursery team, who's helping build the fynbos display itself.

Thank you for the kind messages of concern and care this week as an early summer fynbos fire burned between Gansbaai and Stanford.
The view at Grootbos shows a clear outline of where the fire moved towards the Walker Bay area and onto the reserve.
From all of us at Grootbos Foundation, we wish you a fabulous weekend full of wild discoveries.
