Fiscal Flycatcher Babies Thrive
Our parting shot this week is of the fiscal flycatcher babies that were born a week ago in a nest just outside our office.
Sakhe Tshayela from the Grootbos Foundation’s canoeing programme in Stanford has been doing us proud at the President’s Cup!
Sakhe (2nd from the left in the photo) came 3rd in his heat and 4th in the semifinal – what an achievement! His teammate Kyle went on to win gold in the U14 200m canoe sprint. Let’s hear it for Team South Africa!
Video highlight:
Before the racing even started, Sakhe stole the show during the opening parade with some awesome dance moves! South Africans sure know how to celebrate.
From all of us at the Grootbos Foundation - we’re proud of these young stars and wish you a weekend filled with smiles and a bit of dancing too!

Thank you for the kind messages of concern and care this week as an early summer fynbos fire burned between Gansbaai and Stanford.
