Shed Happens: A Surprise in the Fynbos!

Look Closely...

Our Grootbos Environmental Centre team spotted something in the fynbos this week. At first, it looked like a snake resting in the sun...

…but take a second look - it’s just the old skin, left behind like a jacket on a hook! The fit got a little tight.

Did you know? Most snakes shed their skin 2 to 4 times a year. Younger snakes shed more often - sometimes every two weeks - while older ones may only shed twice a year.

Nature always has a story to tell!
