Mushroom Season at Grootbos
Do you know your mushrooms?

Meet the African mole cricket (Gryllotalpa africana), a light brown insect built for life underground. With their rake-like forelegs, they thrive in moist environments, feeding on plant roots.
Males create a deep buzzing sound by rubbing their forewings together while in their burrows. You might hear them near wetlands and dams in spring and summer as they warm up for the season ahead.
