Welcoming New Talent to the Team
Welcoming new talent to the team!

Last weekend, the Grootbos Foundation coaches hosted a Community Coaching Workshop in collaboration with Premier League and the British Council in Gansbaai. The workshop was designed to support the development of grassroots coaches and football organisations by sharing best practice, modern coaching methodologies, and practical, on-field learning aligned with the Premier League’s coaching framework. Young coaches from schools and clubs in the Gansbaai, Stanford, Hermanus and Cape Agulhas were invited to the training at no charge - this privilege was not wasted on the young coaches who know the cost of training and in particular, the value of practical, in-person training.
It is such a privilege to work alongside the trainers and team from Premier League and British Council that bring their exceptional skill and professionalism to the sport through inspiring a new generation of coaches.
Premier League is deeply committed and invested in Gansbaai and Grootbos Foundation since 2008 when they sponsored the state-of-the-artificial pitch for the town of Gansbaai. In 2025, the Premier League gave another gift to Gansbaai which was to replace the original old pitch surface with a brand new artificial surface. Thanks to Rhinoturf who installed the pitch surface and co-sponsored the turf with Grootbos Foundation, this collaboration through sports for the benefit of young South Africans is an incredible success story and proud 2010 Football World Cup legacy project.

Volunteer coaches donate their time and their own skills to the Grootbos Foundation programme. Many sports volunteers play sports at a high level through their school, college or club. Adding their talent and skills to the Grootbos Foundation coaching team strengthens the team. They bring a variety of coaching approaches to the team and many local children and teenagers love meeting volunteers who inspire them with stories of growing up in other countries.
The volunteers also gain life experience and perspective which might even change their own career pathways.
