Today, we were treated to warm, calm weather out at sea, making for a fantastic day!
A shark to the left, a shark to the right; that’s what we call afternoon delight! Today Slashfin launched from Kleinbaai harbour at midday with everyone’s hopes high that today would be a great day. As we didn’t go to sea yesterday due to the sea conditions, we didn’t know what to expect and we hoped that our shark visitors hadn’t left the bay. We didn’t have to wait long before a very curious juvenile white shark approached, approximately 2.5 meters long. She’s a young and nimble shark, making quick turns meet inches from the cage and our excited divers inside of it. She was soon joined by a slightly larger male white shark. He was just as curious as she, and they were eventually joined by a third white shark, about 3.3 meters in length. Our last and final shark of the trip was the 4-meter male that we saw the other day. He seemed to be a trip favourite, sneaking up from the deep beneath the decoy then slowly passing the cage, showing off how long and powerful his hydrodynamic body is. All of these sharks came and went throughout the trip, and the big male snuck up beneath the female and she immediately got frightened and took off. It was an incredible day with some incredible sharks. We can only hope that tomorrow is just as great!
