This morning we had an early start to the day as strong south-easterly winds began to pick up.
3x Great White Sharks spotted on Sunday morning around the famous Dyer Island ecosystem. What an unforgettable adventure for our Marine Dynamics guests.
On Friday, our onboard marine biologist, Alina Pryazhkina, was able to confirm through the extensive fin-ID database, that the 5m female Great White Shark that visited us on Friday, were the same shark that visited us in June/July 2018. The shark also has a distinctive right pectoral fin that is bent upwards.
Senior white shark biologist, Alison Towner, launched the Dyer Island Conservation Trust research vessel once the team was back on land. The research team was aiming to place an acoustic tag on the shark to track its movements. They were successful in their attempt. This contributes to the understanding of white sharks both locally and internationally.
