Rabies Alert: Keep Dogs Leashed on Overstrand...
As rabies continues to impact seals along our coastline, it's essential for dog owners to keep their pets on a leash.
MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE OF THE PEARLY BEACH RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION HELD AT 10H30 ON THURSDAY, 25 MAY, 2023, AT SEEFF’S OFFICES, PEARLY BEACH.
The Chairperson welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked Nelia for providing the venue. Alderman Coetzee opened in prayer.
PRESENT:
• Cllr Steven Fourie (ward councillor), Alderman Dudley Coetzee, (both ex officio) Messrs. Trevor Archer and Jason Stonehewer
• Mesdames Shirley Coetzee, Nelia Hurter, Wilma Brent and Vivienne Burton-Moore
APPROVAL OF MINUTES DATED 23 FEBRUARY, 2023
There was no committee meeting held in March as the AGM took place in that month and a public meeting was held in April.
The February 2023 minutes were approved.
Proposed by Jason and seconded by Wilma.
MATTERS ARISING FROM THE PREVIOUS MINUTES
No Law Enforcement presence has been noticed at the Drop-Off Zone. Craig Mitchell will be requested to erect the new signage displaying the operating hours at the Zone. It was noted that contractors are not allowed to dump garden refuse at the site, but have been given permission to dump clean garden refuse behind the soccer field in Eluxolweni. This is then chipped by the municipality and used for other purposes.
Cllr Fourie will follow up on the removal of the obsolete Telkom poles.
Cllr Fourie will also follow up with the Provincial Roads Department regarding the reduction in the speed limit to 80kph on the R43 at the entrance to Pearly Beach. He has not yet received any feedback on his previous correspondence in this regard.
The tap for the drinking fountain on the Village Green still needs to be modified to fit its purpose.
Gordon will begin the process of cleaning and painting the whale on the Village Green as soon as the weather allows.
A map of Pearly Beach has been printed. This will be painted by Ronel Smuts, laminated and erected at the entrance sign on Main Road to replace the previous map.
Alderman Coetzee will follow up with Liezl de Villiers regarding the wildlife signage around the village.

SECURITY ISSUES AROUND THE VILLAGE
Owners of properties should be approached by their security companies to convert their alarms to silent as many faulty alarm sirens sound incessantly disturbing neighbours. Jason agreed to write a letter to all 3 security companies in order to find a solution.
REPORT BACK FROM THE APRIL PUBLIC MEETING
The meeting went well. No other comments.
