Rabies Alert: Keep Dogs Leashed on Overstrand...
As rabies continues to impact seals along our coastline, it's essential for dog owners to keep their pets on a leash.
MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE OF THE PEARLY BEACH RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION HELD AT 9H00 ON WEDNESDAY, 13 APRIL, 2022, AT THE PEARLY SHELL GUESTHOUSE, CREST ROAD, PEARLY BEACH.
The Chairperson welcomed everyone to the meeting and opened in prayer.
Alderman Dudley Coetzee, (ex officio), Messrs Jason Stonehewer and Trevor Archer
Mesdames Shirley Coetzee, Nelia Hurter and Vivienne Burton-Moore
Cllr Steven Fourie (Ward Councillor)
Mrs Wilma Brent
The meeting agreed that all office bearers and portfolios remain as they were in the previous term. This was proposed by Shirley, seconded by Trevor and unanimously approved by those present. The Chairperson would advise the Area Manager accordingly.
CHAIRPERSON (ELECTED AT MARCH AGM}: Shirley Coetzee
VICE CHAIRPERSON: Nelia Hurter
SECRETARY: Viv Burton-Moore
TREASURER: Trevor Archer
PORTFOLIOS
Conservation Consultant: Jason Stonehewer
Infrastructure and Maintenance: Wilma Brent
It further agreed that all committee members will assist with maintenance and infrastructure issues. Photographs where possible should be taken and sent to Shirley who will compile these and follow up with the municipality.
Shirley will write to Kat Myburgh requesting that road signs be upgraded although poles are often stolen.
It was noted that the signage at Pearly Beach needs to be corrected. At present the signage indicates that the beach is Castle Beach, which is incorrect. This is a long outstanding issue and needs to be rectified as soon as possible.
A request for a generator for water supply during load shedding has been added to the IDP for the next financial year. Jason agreed to motivate by sending a letter to the mayor.
The committee approved a payment of R1000 to Ronel Smuts for the mural she painted at the entrance to our village.
There is still a huge problem with rubbish around the village. It was suggested that workers should be employed on a casual basis to clean up.
With nothing further to discuss, the meeting was closed at 10h30. The committee will be advised when the next meeting will take place. This is likely to be in June.
