School Clothing Project: Helping Children in ...
A big thank you from S.H.A.R.E to everyone who supported us with our school clothing project.
Winter is here! Would you please stand with us for food relief in the heart of the Western Cape, the COVID-19 epicenter of the African continent?
Please join us in support of StanFood Relief, a partnership platform based in the town of Stanford, with a mission of food relief and a vision for food security in the Overberg. Food distribution is made possible by a network of NGOs as well as public and private entities and individuals. Since the start of lockdown on 27 March 2020, hunger, poverty, and desperation have grown daily. In Stanford alone, soup kitchens have been providing compassionate food relief for up to 2300 children and adults, daily.
Gansbaai-based pastor Johan du Toit, who helps to coordinate StanFood Relief, is representing SHARE on the StanFood Relief platform.
Your generosity would enable us to help with:
1. The purchasing of a fridge and chest freezer for storage of perishable ingredients for the soup kitchens,
2. providing urgently needed ingredients for daily food preparation and provisioning,
3. covering logistical and running costs in these difficult times,
4. preparing for the cold winter months ahead, especially as the weather turns,
5. improving holistic disaster relief in our region as we work for better food security in the Overberg.
This campaign in support of StanFood Relief, via SHARE, was requested by Pastor Johan's daughter, Emma du Toit (a French national), so that she could share the urgency of the situation with her friends and family as well.
Emma's message:

Like many towns in South Africa, beautiful Stanford is bordered with townships and squatter settlements where people live in very precarious conditions. Their livelihoods, often earned in the informal sector, have been severely hit by confinement, still in place in South Africa. Many are hungry.
My father and I have been working with StanFood Relief, a disaster relief platform that brings together the municipality, Stanford Rotary, and NGOs such as Food4Thought and SHARE. The food is cooked daily on the spot by local women, in big pots over gas stoves. Since the beginning of lock-down, up to 2300 meals are served daily to children and adults, and it is sometimes their only meal of the day.
In the morning we distribute the food ingredients to the various soup kitchens as well as make sure there are enough masks and gloves available for the volunteers. At lunchtime, we assist with spraying people’s hands with sanitizer and serving meals. In the afternoon we tally up the numbers for the daily reports.
Though this is a good start, the COVID-19 infection rate is growing quickly in Africa's hotspot.
Every contribution, every cent, will make a difference. The funds will be directly paid into the NPO S.H.A.R.E’s account for StanFood Relief.
Thanks for your help in feeding the hungry, please share this with as many people as possible <3

Recently we sat down with Pastor Frikkie Zeelie to find out a little more about the man behind Gansbaai NPO, S.H.A.R.E.
This disabled man's house burned down and we were able to rebuild it for him.
The S.H.A.R.E.charity shop has moved to Protea Centre, 12 Main Road, Gansbaai!
These are uncertain times for all of us, especially those people in our community who are less fortunate than we are.
