Stunning Deep-Sky Astrophotography: Nebulae and Galaxies

With the Moon out of the way and weather improving somewhat, there was a few hours gap last night for collecting a few photons. All three images with a S30 Pro, on EQ mode and 80 minutes subs.

First up is the Dumbbell Nebula (also designated as Messier 27, M27, or NGC 6853). This is a famous planetary nebula located roughly 1,200 to 1,360 light-years away in the northern constellation of Vulpecula (the Fox). Discovered by French astronomer Charles Messier on July 12, 1764, it holds the historic distinction of being the very first planetary nebula ever discovered in human history.

Second is NGC 253, popularly known as the Sculptor Galaxy, Silver Coin Galaxy, or Silver Dollar Galaxy, a prominent intermediate spiral galaxy undergoing frenzied star formation. Located approximately 11.4 million light-years away in the southern constellation of Sculptor, it stands as the brightest and most massive member of the Sculptor Group, one of the closest galactic clusters to our own Local Group.

The last image is the Helix Nebula (also designated NGC 7293 or Caldwell 63), a famous planetary nebula located approximately 655 light-years away in the constellation Aquarius. Often referred to as the "Eye of God" or the "Eye of Sauron" due to its striking, iris-like appearance, it represents one of the closest and most studied bright planetary nebulae to Earth.
