Each bedroom of this stunning Whale Coast self-catering accommodation opens out onto its own sea front balcony, affording visitors breath-taking views of our gorgeous coastline. The uninterrupted panoramic views of Walker Bay and the surrounding mountain range extend up to Hangklip and even the Cape of Good Hope on a clear day.
Next to the infinity pool, a private path winds its way through the fynbos vegetation that is indigenous to the Western Cape, taking you to the water’s edge, or to a walking trail that extends from the one end of Gansbaai to the pristine beaches of the Walker Bay Nature Conservancy near Hermanus.

Whale Huys combines the warmth and character of traditional thatched roof architecture with the luxury of a modern holiday villa. It boasts conveniences like basic satellite TV, wireless Internet, and a laptop, which you can use to check your email, stay in touch with loved ones or surf the web. Although Whale Huys is a self-catering accommodation, a private chef and daily maid services can be made available at an extra charge.
About the Villa
With its open plan living area, this holiday accommodation has a spacious, rustic feeling. The thatch roof and cathedral ceilings keep the villa cool even on the hottest of days. With stupendous views of the ocean from every room, there are various cozy areas to relax, admire the sea views or cuddle up in front of the fireplace.
Description: The main entrance to Whale Huys is found on the main level. The living/dining room space is open plan, while the central atrium area has 8-meter ceilings. Glass sliding doors and a balcony extending over the length of this ocean front accommodation, providing views of the coast from three sides. There is a large flat-screen TV, (Full DSTV Premium satellite) and a DVD Player.
The modern kitchen features a working island with a ceramic stovetop and full-size oven. There is also a microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, a large refrigerator with indoor ice machine and a double sink and a separate tap for filtered water. The kitchen is further well-equipped with utensils, plates, glassware, and cutlery, even for large groups, Next to the kitchen, there is a small office area with a laptop for doing emails or web surfing.
The main bedroom of this holiday accommodation is located on the main level and guests here can enjoy their own private balcony, built-in cupboards and an en-suite bathroom with double sink, large walk-in shower, and separate toilet.
There is a guest toilet on this level as well.
Description: One flight down from the main level of this ocean front accommodation, guests will find a smaller kitchen/bar with full-size refrigerator and an outdoor braai area. There is a large indoor seating area across the length of the house that can be used for dining when having a braai. This is the level where the infinity pool is located. Additionally, there is an outdoor seating area, outdoor shower, and a laundry room.
Description: There are three ocean-facing bedrooms located on this level, each with its own bathroom and balcony. Two bedrooms are to the left of the stairs, while a wooden gallery across the atrium area connects to the third bedroom. Two of the upstairs bathrooms have showers and one has a bathtub as well as a separate shower. One of the unique aspects of this holiday accommodation is that all bedrooms have ocean views from two directions. Additionally, all bedrooms have built in whitewashed cupboards.
Whale Huys holiday rental is located in a quiet seaside resort town called De Kelders, which is one of the quietest and safest communities on the Whale Coast. De Kelders lies an easy two hours drive up the east coast from Cape Town International airport and a short 5 minutes from the town of Gansbaai, which boasts LOADS of activities, adventures and things to do!
Stanford, a small town renowned for its quaint restaurants is 10 minutes by car. For a larger variety of shops, Hermanus is just 25 minutes away from Whale Huys holiday rental on the other side of the bay. The entire area is exceptionally rich in culture: Elim, a world heritage village, is 30 minutes away. Active adventures also abound, including wilderness and beachside horseback riding (African Horse Company is just 10 minutes away).
South Africa’s shark cage diving capital, Kleinbaai, is just 10 minutes away. In fact, you can see all of the ‘Marine Big 5’ within a 45-minute radius of our Whale Coast accommodation. A number of wine estates in the area offers some of South Africa’s best wines, including Hemel en Aarde Valley, Stanford Valley, and Lomond wines. Wine tasting can be done six days and in some places 7 days a week.
