Gansbaai forms part of the Cape Whale Coast, which is situated in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. Made up of a collection of towns, namely; Kleinmond, Hangklip, Stanford and Hermanus, this area is a tremendously popular tourist destination, in both the local and international market. Named after the annual migration of the Southern-Right whales, which can be visible with the naked eye at certain times of the year, it’s also home to a plethora of outdoor adventure potential, making it even more appealing to nature lovers alike.

Situated on the R43, via the N2 highway, Gansbaai is approximately 165kms from Cape Town CBD. Just over a 2hour car ride along smooth, tarred roads, your mountain bike should remain un-jolted during transit. Alternatively, if you’re coming for a casual holiday and don’t want to risk your bike, you can easily hire one from the providers within the town.

Those looking to visit from outside of the Western Cape can fly into Cape Town International Airport or utilise one of the many major bus liners or independent transport operators that stop here.
