On Foot
Following in the footsteps of the first people to settle here, rely on your feet to lead the way and take to the fields. The numerous hiking and walking trails lead you along the rugged coastline and past the famous Birkenhead Lighthouse and shipwrecks now resting under the waves. Heading for the hills, you gain a spectacular view of Walker Bay and the big blue ocean that lies beyond it. Not all ventures on foot need to be strenuous… Kick off your shoes and dig your toes into the sand of one of our pristine beaches and just watch the crashing waves.

Boy, are you in for a surprise! Jump on one of our whale watching or shark cage diving boats and hold on for the experience of a lifetime! Heading out with one of our Shark Operators, you get to enjoy the views of the Kleinbaai Harbour and get ready to look a Great White Shark in the eye. Opting for a Whale Watching excursion, prepared to be awed and inspired. The boats take you right up to the graceful Southern Right Whales that visit the protective waters of Walker Bay every year. The flight takes you over the rugged mountains and flower-filled valleys and veers off to the ocean. Soaring out over the playground of the Marine Big 5 you will never want to touch foot on land again. Spot the groups of Southern Right Whales congregating in the shallows, catch the wink of a Great White Shark fin as it dives below the surface and enjoy watching the commotion of Seals around Dyer Island. For an alternative route, head out of town towards Elim or Baardskeerdersbos. Here you can explore the sweet aromas of the local wine from the Elim Wine Route or just spend hours watching the grazing cows in the fields.
