Fiscal Flycatcher Babies Thrive
Our parting shot this week is of the fiscal flycatcher babies that were born a week ago in a nest just outside our office.

This photo of a puffadder holds special meaning for us. It's not just about its cool markings or hidden talents in camouflage. What makes it really important is who took the picture - our biodiversity stewardship team.
Two years ago, they might've been scared or even harmed the snake. But now, after learning about snakes and nature through environmental education sessions, they handled the encounter calmly.
Snake sightings are common in their work. So, when they found this puffadder chilling under a rooikrans bush, they calmly admired its beauty, snapped a pic, and let it be. They even shared the photo proudly.
We're proud of their growth and how they're helping conserve nature.

Thank you for the kind messages of concern and care this week as an early summer fynbos fire burned between Gansbaai and Stanford.
The view at Grootbos shows a clear outline of where the fire moved towards the Walker Bay area and onto the reserve.
From all of us at Grootbos Foundation, we wish you a fabulous weekend full of wild discoveries.
