A Wild Start to the Day: Leopard Spotted
This morning, our reserve manager received an exciting camera trap alert of a leopard sighting.
We’re thrilled to share a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Project Pitch Perfect in Gansbaai! Thanks to an incredible partnership with the Premier League (UK) and Rhinoturf, Grootbos Foundation is restoring Gansbaai’s cherished community artificial turf at Spaces4Sport. This facility has been a symbol of pride since South Africa hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2010, and now, in 2024, we’re bringing it back to its original glory!
In partnership with Overstrand Municipality, the proud custodian of this community gem, Grootbos Foundation ensures local children and youth benefit from free coaching, life skills, and mentorship every day at Spaces4Sport.
The local contractor, AgriTurf, has already begun the messy work of removing the old turf, revealing a solid foundation laid by Rhinoturf back in 2008. We’re planning a grand relaunch of the brand-new turf in late January 2025!
