Today's Shewana Surf Therapy lesson was called Take 5 Body Scan. The coaches and participants paid tribute to the nationwide Gender Based Violence campaign by lying silently for 15 minutes.
They practised a simple breathing technique which they can use to calm down and check in with themselves. They lay in a circle and breathed slowly in and out, whilst listening to their own thoughts and feelings.
The objective was to show awareness of their own feelings and thoughts, and to demonstrate that they can control their reactions to their feelings and thoughts.
