Nature's Tiny Pollinator

The Grootbos Foundation's Friday news kicks off with a face full of pollen. This fly, along with a squadron of other fly species, was spotted actively feeding on a species of daisy (Othonna bulbosa) which is in mass bloom in some of the burnt veld of the Grootbos Reserve. This is a bountiful season in the fynbos ecosystem.

Zoom in to see its pollen-laden face and eyes. It almost needs racing goggles.
