Grootbos Foundation update today begins with sports news despite it being the school holiday.
Our parting shot is of the whole Grootbos Foundation team at the Masakhane Hub this afternoon. When not participating in a sports development programme at Spaces4Sport, children and youth can meet at the Masakhane Hub for school homework support, art programmes, educational games, chess, free internet access, a meal, sanitary pads, business mentorship meetings and more. In the spirit of Mandela Day on 18 July in which all South Africans were encouraged to give just 67 minutes of their time back to their community in a way that shows generosity and the spirit of 'ubuntu', Grootbos Foundation swooped in for a full day of clearing, weeding and tidying up. It was a celebration of community and of the Grootbos Foundation team.
