Our parting shot is of 2 of our team members who visited a site where the very special Gladiolus overbergensis is currently being monitored.
The conservation team is monitoring the site to confirm the pollinators of these rare but showy flowers that only bloom in the first winter after fire. Yesterday, Penelope (in red) from the Head Office team grabbed the opportunity to go into the field to see these flower spikes with her own eyes instead of only seeing photographs of them. Of course, she took her own photos.
It was a perfect moment on a perfect afternoon to see a particular flower for the very first time. From all of us at Grootbos Foundation, I wish you a perfect weekend.
