The latest Overberg Geoscientists Group (OGG) Newsletter #4 is out now!
Dr Sue Winkler recently presented on the large-scale structures and geodynamics of Western Gondwana, using satellite data to uncover new perspectives on regional geology.
Her work integrates geological, geophysical, and shortwave infrared satellite imagery to better understand crustal-scale structures across Southern and Central Africa, as well as parts of South America. The presentation also explored how major geological events, like the Pan-African–Brasiliano Orogeny, shaped mineral-rich regions and influenced the formation of key deposits such as gold and base metals.
This research offers a fresh lens on how large-scale geological systems are interpreted and highlights the growing role of satellite technology in mineral exploration.
