Emotional Strength: Supporting Without Rescui...
An emotionally strong you becomes an emotionally strong friend.
Your personal growth becomes your gift in your relationships.
There are people who, through the way they live their own lives, become a leader or a way-shower for the people around them.
Not because they have all the answers.
Not because their life has been easy.
But because they have chosen to use difficult experiences as opportunities to become their best and strongest version of themselves.
Perhaps you are one of those people.
You have walked through difficult times. You have learned. You have questioned what you believed. You have allowed yourself to see that another future is possible.
And through that process, something changes.
Your resilience becomes visible.
Your willingness to be open becomes an example.
Your readiness to learn and grow gives the people around you permission to consider their own possibilities.
That is a gift.
But there is an important distinction between being inspirational and carrying someone.
When you inspire, you are saying:
“I believe in you, and I am with you.”
You are standing beside them while they discover what they are capable of.
When you carry, the message can become very different:
“You cannot do this. I need to do it for you.”
Even when it comes from love, rescuing can unintentionally tell another person that they are not strong enough, capable enough or emotionally equipped to find their own way.
And that is not the gift we want to give.
We are here to be inspirational.
We are not here to carry.
Your growth can become a beautiful example of what is possible without becoming someone else's responsibility for how they live their life.
You can share what you have learned.
You can walk beside someone.
You can encourage them when they cannot yet see what you see.
You can believe in them.
And you can still allow them to take their own steps.
This is especially important in the relationships that matter most to us.
Be careful what role you play.
Are you standing beside someone and saying, “I believe in you”?
Or have you quietly stepped into the role of saying, “You need me because you cannot do this yourself”?
There is a big difference.
Your personal growth is not only something you do for yourself.
It becomes a gift to the people around you when your growth gives them the freedom to discover their own strength.
You don't have to carry them.
Walk with them. Believe in them. Let your life show them what is possible.
