Many of us are so anxious to get the paint up that we don't take the crucial first step of thoroughly cleaning the walls - especially in the kitchen, where they may be invisibly decorated with grease, oil, and food residue. The same goes for the bathroom, where steam and condensation, hair spray, and cosmetics are an issue. Use a degreaser like Prominent General Purpose Clear dilute 1:10 with water. Then rinse with clean water and allow thorough drying before painting.
