Found on the main road heading through town, this is one stop you can’t and don’t want to miss. Famous for their delicious pies and all manner of freshly baked goodies, Ou Meul Bakery has become a firm favourite amongst locals and travellers alike.
2. Hiking Trails
The rising Riviersonderend Mountains behind the town and the nearby Nature Reserves offer some of the best hiking trails around. Take on the Kleinbergie Hiking Trail to enjoy panoramic views across the town and surrounds as well as the chance to view the historical signal canons. You can also challenge yourself with the Riviersonderend Route, Suicide Gorge and Riviersonderend kloofing trails.
3. Mari’s Fudge
Those looking for a yummy treat for the road or simply those with a sweet tooth can keep an eye out for Mari’s Fudge. With a selection traditional fudge, almond brittle, caramel butter fudge and more, this is what sweet dreams are made of.
4. The Namesake River
The beautiful winding Riviersonderend River is the town’s most treasured attraction. Choose to spend time on the banks of the river watching the easy ebb and flow of the water, watch the birds as they build their nests in the reeds or choose to camp on the banks of the river for the full effect.

This colourful little shop is your one-stop shop for food stuffs. Housing a coffee shop, butchery and bakery, you can grab the necessities for a party, a lekker braai or a quick cup of java. Stop by for freshly baked tarts and cakes, home-made jams and butter and A-grade meats, all made with love and care.
