The sharks are back

The sharks are back

Gansbaai Courant

After the recent vanishing act the Great White Sharks pulled off in February, the Dyer Island Conservation Trust thought it best to welcome them back with an evening dedicated to them.

This evening is scheduled for 28 March 2017.

The waters of Gansbaai are believed to have one of the densest aggregations of Great White sharks in the world.

With the opportunity to see this shark all year round, and the proximity to land, making it one of the most accessible places in the world to do so, Gansbaai is on top of many tourist's lists to visit in the hopes of catching a glimpse of this animal.

These factors also allow for critical studies to be undertaken on this legendary but little known shark species.

The nearly daily trips run, allow a platform to consistently conduct crucial observational studies, collect photo-identification and measure environmental parameters leading to a better understanding of the Great White Shark.

As the simple fact is, to date, knowledge is limited concerning this animal, including vulnerability status and the co-workers at the Conservation Trust  cannot possibly hope to protect, conserve and provide a realistic image on something they know so little about.

As always, all shark lovers are more than welcome to join and learn more about the wonderful marine life.

RSVP at marketing@shark watchsa.com attention:  Cari du Preez.
