During the World Travel Market (WTM) Africa event in April this year in Cape Town, Gansbaai Tourism’s manager, Glenda Kitley, invited tour operators to visit Gansbaai.

Two operators, Anneke Smit and Brenhan van Niekerk accepted the invitation.

“Anneke and Brenhan informed me that, although they bring a few clients through to Gansbaai for shark cage diving, they are not really familiar with the area,” Glenda said.

Glenda said as happens with nature the weather did not exactly play ball and they were unable to partake in sea trips or Fatbike rides, but they met with the various operators and enjoyed some other experiences.

A must-stop was of course the Tourism bureau and an invitation was extended to Gansbaai’s accommodation product owners to come and meet them and tell them about their products.

Included in their itinerary was a visit to the Danger Point Lighthouse, African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary and the hiking trail. It is impossible to fit everything into 2 days, but as can be expected they were blown away by what they did see and promised to be back themselves and also of course include more of the Gansbaai activities in their tour plans.

On the way home they stopped off at Panthera in Stanford.
