This is the 4th year for the Funky Fynbos Festival and promises to bring more activities and greater involvement from the business community.

Last year the organisers had loads of feedback about the positive impact that the FFF (Funky Fynbos Festival) had on the business community. 

Nationally recognised

The festival has become a major event for Gansbaai and is now a recognised event on the mountain bike and trail run calendar nationally.

The committee  had fabulous support from the tourism sector as well as the local municipality and businesses, all of whom are on board for the 4th year as well. The main objective remains a destination marketing one which aims to attract visitors to our beautiful village to experience the many activities and attractions which improves economic growth for the area.

This year the main sporting events will be hosted at Lomond wine farm, an ideal location at the foot of the mountains with a beautiful dam and grounds for the supporting activities.  

Fynbos  in the harbour

The Fynbos display will move back into town, in the harbour, making it more accessible to all. There will be a variety of exciting activities planned around the display which promises to provide fun for the entire family.

Funky displays

New on the line-up is a ‘street’ parade and entertainment which is still in early planning stages and will be revealed as the committee gets permissions together and details settled.

Local restaurants are on board with special menus and funky themes. This year the committee would love to see Funky displays all over town.

Friday 22 September

Tea party for senior citizens from old age homes;

Cocktails and opening at Fun-ky Fynbos display for sponsors and organizers;

Registration for races.

Saturday 23 September

Registration for races;

Street parade and official opening of FFF 2017;

Farm food and fare at Groeneweide –TBC;

Mountain Bike races and supporting activities – stalls, kiddies entertainment, fishing competition, wine tasting, flower display and activities, stalls and food, town entertainment and food and craft stalls. Golf competition, 4X4, model aircraft flying and a Funky Fynbos Party!

Sunday 24 September

Registration for races;

trail run races and supporting activities – stalls, kiddies entertainment, fishing competition, wine tasting, flower display and activities;

Town entertainment and food and craft stalls;

Farm food and fare at Groeneweide;

Monday 25 September

Flower display and activities stalls and food.
