19 Days to Christmas: Lazy Time

School sports are finished. The crazy rush-around of a Saturday is done. You have a few extra hours on hand.

Use this time to teach yourself and your children that it is okay, it is a good idea, to have some personal time.

Things to consider:

• Plotter around your garden before you get dressed for the day - in your PJ’s.

• Sit on the patio with your morning tea/water/juice and listen to nature as it awakens.

• Lie on the grass, under a tree, and watch how the light plays in between the leaves. Use all your senses - what do you see, what do you hear, what do you smell, what do you taste, what do you feel?

• Re-learn the forgotten art of daydreaming. You are stimulating vital parts of your brain that help with creativity - this includes problem-solving.

We must learn to give ourselves permission to take personal time to “do nothing” for ourselves. In doing nothing, we achieve a lot - most importantly, it teaches us self-care. Imagine a world where people are not guilt-stricken when they care for their emotional state by being kind to themselves. (We are the example of the future.)
