4 Days to Christmas: Rest

The big cook-off will start soon. The excitement of a special holiday shared, and all the expectations that go with that.

Make today a day of rest.

Everyone doing their own thing with everyone. Sharing space separately.

Part of the problem of family time arises when we feel guilty because we are not doing everything everyone wants to do. The result is that we do it with resentment, and resentment leads to anger.

Learn to be around each other, without being in each other's space all the time. Lie on your bed and read your book. Sit in the garden and bask in the sun. Go out for a walk on your own. Take your spouse for a coffee. Sit with the children - read them a story or watch a movie with them.

There was a time in your life when you were okay to share a space without participating all the time. Why do you think you cannot do it today?

When we are comfortable around each other, we are more open and receptive to each other.
