Reconnect with nature, adventure, and family time this winter at De Hoop Collection!

Our 3-night Mini Ranger Family Winter Holiday Program is specially designed to encourage families to reconnect with each other through fun, educational, and interactive nature-based experiences.

Available Dates:

• 3 - 6 July 2026
• 16 - 19 July 2026

R8 900 per family for 3 nights.

Accommodation Included:

Stay in a comfortable De Hoop Village cottage sleeping up to 6 guests, featuring:

• 2 double rooms
• 1 bunk bedroom

Mini Ranger Program

Recommended for children aged 6-11 years.

Children under 6 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult during all activities.

Complete the program and receive:

• Official De Hoop Mini Ranger Cap
• De Hoop Mini Ranger Badge

Mini Ranger waistcoat vests will be available for purchase from the Curio Shop.

Each child will receive:

• A Mini Ranger booklet
• A pen
• Wildlife identification activities
• "What, Where, When" nature challenges
• A keepsake educational guide to take home

Getting Around

Depending on group size, transport during activities will be provided by either:

• Land Cruiser
• Tractor and trailer

Rainy Day Activities May Include:

• Biscuit making
• Chocolate making
• Scientific experiments
• Weather station activities
• Sundial projects
• Compass activities

All activities take place from the Boma and are weather-dependent.

Additional Participation:

Children not booked as part of the package may join activities at R150 per activity.

DAY 1

• 14:00 - Family Arrival and Check-In
• 19:00 - Star Stories and S'mores Around The Boma

Meet your fellow Mini Rangers and kick off your adventure under the stars.

DAY 2

• 10:00 - Family Nature Quest

Work together as a family to discover the wonders of De Hoop's natural environment.

• 15:00 - Guided Origins Exhibition Tour

Explore the fascinating history, geology, and biodiversity of the region.

• 19:00 - Science Experiments and Games

Enjoy hands-on learning and exciting educational activities.

DAY 3

• 09:00 - Tracking and Spoor Moulding

Learn how to identify animal tracks and create your own spoor moulds.

• 15:00 - Earth Age Geology Display

Discover the story of our planet through rocks, fossils, and geological wonders.

• 19:00 - Scorpion Hunt

Embark on an exciting evening adventure and discover some of De Hoop's fascinating nocturnal creatures.

DAY 4

• 10:00 - Check-Out

Give your children the chance to explore, learn, discover, and earn their official De Hoop Mini Ranger status while creating unforgettable family memories in one of South Africa's most beautiful natural settings.
