The beautiful landscapes, free roaming wildlife and fresh air are bound to go straight to your head and there is nothing better.

South Africa is known for its spectacular nature reserves and here, at the southern tip of Africa you will find some of the most beautiful reserves you have ever seen. Located at the foot of one of these national treasures, Bredasdorp is basically surrounded by awe-inspiring nature reserves like the Heuningberg Nature Reserve. From your doorstep to a short drive away, you can explore and discover the untouched nature of this stunning area and all the natural treasures hidden within it.

The nature reserves span over great distances and include seemingly endless fields of wild flowers and the intricate micro-ecosystems that they hold. Running over hills and through valleys these nature reserves conserve and protect our most valuable assets and showcases the natural world as you’ve never seen it before. The reserves even include stretches of sandy white beaches and certain ocean territories.

A fantastic way to discover these untouched areas is to embark on one of the many walking and hiking trails that can be taken through the reserves. These trails are fun for the whole family as you can walk at your own pace or book a guided hike filled with interesting facts and stories shared by your experienced tour guide. There are also lengthier trails that include spectacular land-based whale watching along the way. Some of the reserves also offer stargazing after dinner that promises to open your eyes to a whole new world.

Those who prefer a little more speed can get their blood pumping on one of the mountain bike or eco quad biking trails. These are also guided tours to make sure you don’t miss a moment of excitement.

More interested in taking it easy but still wanting to get out?  You’re in luck. Another educational and eye-opening activity is the Bredasdorp Historical Walk. Trekking all across town and visiting the different monuments and heritage sites really allows you to delve into the history of the thriving town while taking in all the sites. The walk includes 21 landmarks and is sure to transport you back in time to a much simpler and more care-free era.

The great thing about Bredasdorp is its ability to combine the old, natural world with the new, advanced world. Undoubtedly the economic and town of the region, Bredasdorp also holds a unique touch of natural beauty and the ability to carry you away from all your cares in the world. So what are you waiting for? Dive back into easy living, nature, a bygone time.
