Family self-catering accommodation in Grabouw

The Elgin Valley is a special place for a family holiday. There is so much to see and do here, from exploring the mountains to visiting the local farms, and an array of adventures in between. Young or old, no one will get bored when on a getaway in this beautiful corner of the Overberg region. You can also choose from a wide range of accommodation in Grabouw, meaning you’ll find just the right option for your family and your budget.

One of the best choices for a getaway in this area is family self-catering accommodation. There are apartments, houses, lodges and more to choose from, so you can get the right size for your family. The biggest benefit of this kind of accommodation for a family holiday is that you have space for relaxing and socialising together. You aren’t confined to your rooms, or having to use shared common rooms that are also being used by numerous other guests. This means that when you aren’t out exploring or going on adventures, you can spend your time together playing games, reading or getting some quality time with your loved ones.

Of course, the true magic of the Cape Country Meander is usually found out in nature. Grabouw is an excellent basecamp for any holiday here because you are in a great, central location that is surrounded by some of the best that the Overberg region has to offer. There are two nature reserves near the town where you can see indigenous fynbos. In and around the reserves, there are numerous trails that run across and over the mountains of the area. You’ll find a range trails that are suitable for different fitness levels. There are simple paths that aren’t too difficult for those with small children or aren’t looking for anything too challenging while on holiday. The trails also range all the way through to very technical and difficult for those who like to get the adrenaline pumping and are very fit.

If you want to soak up a little culture and history on your holiday, there are plenty of places in and around Grabouw that you should visit. Some of the buildings in town are heritage sites that are open for the public to visit. There are also several museums where you can learn about the history of the region, and how farming has influenced the development of the town over the years.
