Hangklip-Kleinmond Xplorio Members Evening 2019

The first-ever Hangklip-Kleinmond annual members evening was held at the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens on the 14th August 2019 and was attended by Xplorio members from Kleinmond, Betty’s Bay, Pringle Bay, Rooi Els and the entire Xplorio team. While the community members mingled and enjoyed delicious snacks and local wine, a few extra chairs were added to the already buzzing conference room, for the fast-growing crowd. The guest list totalled 95 members but 120 people arrived. This was an uplifting indication that the Hangklip-Kleinmond community had heard there was something big happening, and wanted to be part of it.
The evening’s proceedings commenced as one of Xplorio’s Directors, Jan Lutzeyer, gave an overview of how the internet has grown in the last two decades and how the online space is now part of just about everyone's lives. Research has shown that people are busy searching for things on Google, Facebook and various large online shopping and booking sites that are owned by companies that have never even been to the establishments that they represent. Added to this, many of these sites provide unauthentic and incomprehensive information that is far removed from the real-life community they represent. Jan also mentioned that although Xplorio is there to enable the community with the tools needed to take back control of how and where they are represented online, the movement was all about the community themselves.
Although Xplorio Kleinmond, Betty’s Bay, Pringle Bay and Rooi Els have only been active for one year, and while competing against various online giants, memberships and visitors to the Xplorio site have shown a marked increase. Glowing reports were shared and this year from the months of January to June, Xplorio Hangklip-Kleinmond had 114 Memberships with an 80% increase in visitors since last year.

Mention was made about how well the Xplorio Facebook town pages that run targeted ads for the community are doing.

- Currently has 1,040 Followers and 39,600 people reached per month that resulted in 320 Website clicks per month.
Betty’s Bay
- Currently has 110 Followers and 7,050 people reached per month that resulted in 40 Website clicks per month.
Pringle Bay / Rooi Els
- Currently has 445 Followers and 26,200 people reached per month that resulted in 150 Website clicks per month.
Xplorio Newsletter
The Xplorio Newsletters which are filled with specials, events, town related stories and new Xplorio Members, are also going from strength-to-strength with a total of 2,401 subscribers.
