The majority of Pringle Bay and Rooi Els business is centred on accommodation for holidaymakers. However, there is a small commercial area in the middle of Pringle Bay that provides all of the day-to-day requirements of the locals, and a little bit extra.
In terms of the entertainment sector of Pringle Bay there are several restaurants and bars. These spots are mostly found in the centre of the village and are frequented by locals and tourists alike. The restaurants range from coffee shops selling delicious treats for lunch and tea time through to family pizza places. The bars provide weekend entertainment with live music acts from time to time. In recent years, the village has seen an influx of younger families moving in. This change created the need for a primary school, which opened in 2008. There are a few important amenities that can’t be found within Pringle Bay but are close at hand in nearby towns. The nearest petrol station is a short 10km drive away in Betty’s Bay. For medical situations, there is a doctor based in Betty’s Bay and a full medical centre in Kleinmond about 25 minutes away.
The area may be small and is set to stay that way, however, there is actually a wide range of businesses between Pringle Bay and Rooi Els to meet most of your basic needs. Additionally, if locals or visitors are looking for anything more, they can find a larger choice of shops only a short drive away in the town of Kleinmond.
