London to Cape Town on a Lexmoto via Overberg Suzuki!

Christopher Allsop (72) recently made a pit stop at Overberg Suzuki en route to Cape Town from London on his Lexmoto 125cc commuter bike.

After months alone on the road and many adventures, Christopher stopped over in Bredasdorp to prepare for the last stretch of his journey. An oil change seemed like a good incentive to encourage his trusty Lexmoto to continue delivering its best for the last few kilometres to the Mother City.

Here’s an excerpt taken from Christopher’s travel diary about his visit to Overberg Suzuki:

“So, this close to the journey’s end, I sought out a motorbike workshop. Within minutes, I was amongst friends - part of a family. They all wanted to know my story. Bruce made me a coffee, Trevor dropped what he was doing on a German power bike, and Stephan checked my bike over and gave me some useful advice about the shock absorbers (it came as no surprise that they were on their last legs). Trevor’s wife Michelle and daughter Tayla joined in, and we all posed for photos. Trevor changed some other bits, seals and a plug. He reassured me that the engine was showing no signs of excessive wear. And, in the end, he would not accept any payment. That's not just about money - it means much much more. Especially to one who has spent long hours, days, weeks and months alone - always the stranger.”
