Bredasdorp High School Newsletter 19 | 2026
It’s been another busy and successful week at Hoërskool Bredasdorp!
• Congratulations to Ms Tanya de Kock, selected as a netball referee for the SPAR National Championships, and Ms Ilze Baadjies, appointed team manager of the Overberg regional team.
• Grade 10 Life Sciences learners investigated a heart, while Grade 11 learners examined lungs as part of their practical work, with thanks to Bredasdorp Slagpale (Overberg Meat) for the donations.
• Grade 9 learners visited Suideroord Old Age Home, bringing flowers and chocolates and spending time with the residents as part of their “Be Better” term theme.
• Well done to Kirsten van Coppenhagen (Grade 9) for achieving A++ for her English poem and A+ for her Afrikaans fable at the Pierneefteater Arts Festival.
• The school’s chess teams also performed exceptionally well, with Team 1 finishing 2nd overall and Team 2 finishing 5th at the Overberg Top Schools Chess Championships.
• Congratulations to Hugo Pretorius (Grade 11) on representing the South African Junior Underwater Hockey team at the World Championships in Türkiye.
• Around 50 learners also took part in an ATKV litter collection project, helping make Bredasdorp cleaner and showing that every individual can make a difference.
