The Exhaustion of Fighting Yourself
Inner conflict is exhausting because both sides of you are trying to survive.
One side says:
“Be there for everyone.”
“Keep going.”
“Don’t let anyone down.”
The other side whispers:
“I’m tired.”
“This is too much.”
“I need someone to be there for me too.”
And so the war begins.
You keep choosing everyone else while silently abandoning yourself.
Not because you do not matter.
But because somewhere along the way, you learned that love meant self-sacrifice.
You learned to ignore your own emotional needs.
To suppress your pain.
To survive quietly.
But eventually the body begins speaking what the heart can no longer carry.
Fatigue.
Insomnia.
Forgetfulness.
Mental exhaustion.
Emotional numbness.
Depression.
Not because you are broken…
But because you have been fighting yourself for too long.
Perhaps the lesson is no longer:
“How much can I carry?”
Perhaps the lesson is:
“How do I finally start caring for myself too?”
Self-love is not selfish.
Rest is not weakness.
Boundaries are not rejection.
You do not need permission to become available for yourself.
